Online video search engine provider Blinkx has been awarded a patent by the US Patent and Trademark Office for its moving thumbnail technology. This is the first patent granted to Blinkx and it covers the company’s video wall for displaying video search results on blinkx.com.
“This patent grant further validates Blinkx’s industry-leading breakthroughs in online video,” said Suranga Chandratillake, founder and CEO, Blinkx. “It is a formal recognition of our unique, interactive and customisable video wall that is a first-in-the-category product.”
The video wall, and its underlying technology, create a compact and navigable system for browsing and previewing content in a search setting. According to Blinkx, it bridges the gap between search results and the videos that a user intends to watch, making it easy for users to find the most relevant content possible among all search results.
