Danish operator TDC, owner of the YouSee cable platform, delivered 2.9 million VOD requests last year, almost three times more than in 2010.
Part of the growth was down to the success of TDC’s 100 Film subscription service, giving unlimited access to around 100 titles. The service launched in September and delivered 350,000 movies in its first month.
“The launch of a new rental concept in the second half of the year has led to an explosive growth in consumption. Customers are currently watching around half a million movies a month,” said vice-president Ulf Lund.
Hævnen was the most rented movie in 2011.
