IP set-top specialist Amino Communications has selected Celeno Communications, a provider of semiconductors for multimedia WiFi home networking applications, to provide various wireless products.
Amino said Celeno’s OptimizAIR technology would help it offer whole home WiFi networking robust enough for HD IPTV distribution, multi-room DVR and OTT video and video-on-demand consumption anywhere in the home.
Amino and Celeno will offer various solutions, including WiFi/Ethernet bridges powered by Celeno’s CL1830 SoC to wirelessly enable IP set-tops, including the Aminet A130, A140 and A540. Amino said these bridges will enable whole-home wireless DVR functionality, allowing the consumption of centrally stored content anywhere in the home. The companies will also launch WiFi/USB dongles powered by Celeno’s CLR250 chip to wirelessly enable IP set-tops to receive HD IPTV and OTT content.
“With Celeno’s field-proven WiFi technology and rich WiFi chipset portfolio, we are able to offer our telco customers devices that combine all the quality they’ve come to expect from Amino devices with additional wireless functionality,” said Amino’s CEO Donald McGarva.
