Canal Plus says it has 11.2 million Facebook fans for its programmes, an increase of 45% in a year.
According to the French pay TV operator, some 80% of fans come back to its pages each month. Five of the hundred or so pages related to Canal Plus channels are in the top 10 Facebook pages dedicated to TV programmes – Sav with three million fans, Bref with 1.7 million and Le Canal Football Club with 1.2 million fans.
The operator has also developed a number video and games applications delivered via Facebook, including access to episode of series including Borgia and Braquo and games including Les Gniark and Borgia the Game. According to Canal Plus, 20% of traffic to its Canalplus.fr website comes via social networks.
