Rovi introduces DivX Plus Streaming and UV support on Store

Interactive TV technology provider Rovi is using the CES show in Las Vegas to unveil an update to its Rovi Entertainment Store, the company’s white-label product for over-the-top storefront creation and management.

This new version will offer software development kits to streamline customer storefront launches, features including DivX Plus Streaming to help enhance the consumer viewing experience, and support for companies that wish to introduce UltraViolet-compatible services. DivX Plus Streaming is an adaptive streaming technology designed to approach Blu-ray quality, according to Rovi, which acquired DivX through its Sonic Solutions acquisition last year.

In anticipation of new customer launches later this year in the UK, Rovi is also expanding its European content licensing program and Rovi Entertainment Store customer support services.

The SDKs will provide support for connected TVs, web stores, Blu-ray Disc players, iOS devices, Android mobile devices, and game consoles, including recently added support for Sony PlayStation and Xbox.
