Sport 1 renews Spanish football deal

Dutch sports channel Sport1 has secured broadcasting rights for the Spanish Primera División football league, which will be broadcast exclusively on the channel for the next three seasons. The broadcasting rights include live games and edited highlights for television and online.

Sport1 will broadcast at least four games from the Spanish competition live in HD each week.

Will Moerer, Sport1 general manager, said: “In addition to the English Premier League, our subscribers really enjoy the Spanish competition. It goes without saying that we are really pleased that we can continue to broadcast the Real Madrid and FC Barcelona games each week. Our subscribers are now assured that the contracts with the English Premier League, the French Ligue1 and the Belgian Jupiler League will continue, as well as that with the UEFA Champions League.”

Last week, Sport1 announced that it would continue to broadcast the UEFA Champions League for the next three seasons.
