The global online video market will grow at an average rate of 35% a year between 2010-15, reaching €21.7 billion in 2015, according to France-based research group IDATE.
According to IDATE’s Online Video: Uses, Markets, delivery technologies/CDN report, this will represent about 6% of the total video market. The company predicts that the CDN market will reach €4.7 billion, with a compound annual growth rate of 28%, but the video CDN market will be worth €2.4 billion, with a higher CAGR of 33%.
IDATE estimates that 52% of the current global online video market is attributable to pay services thanks to the success of Apple and Netflix in the US, with advertising predominant in other markets.
