Strong Orange TV growth fails to offset revenue slide

France Telecom/Orange’s TV base, including both IPTV and satellite customers, grew by 26.5% year-on-year to reach 4.8 million at the end of September. The company recorded a million net additions in the course of the year, mainly in France and Poland.

In France, Orange had 4.124 million TV customers, up 28% year-on-year. Broadband customers rose by 4.8% in the same period to 9.478 million. In Poland, the operator had 615,000 satellite and IPTV customers at the end of September, up 24% year-on-year, and a broadband base of 2.332 million, up 2.8%.

France Telecom posted revenues of €33.848 billion for the first nine months, flat year-on-year, with declines in France and Poland being offset by growth in emerging markets and Spain. EBITDA for the period was €11.611 billion, down 1.4%.
