KPN increases TV market share

Dutch telco and pay TV operator KPN saw an increase in its television market share, but saw revenues across the company reduced.

The company, which operates the Interatieve IPTV brand as well as digital terrestrial television service Digitenne, recorded a drop in revenues of 3.4% to €3.26 billion, delivering third quarter financial results that were below market expectations. However, its TV market share rose by 17% with an increase of 73,000 IPTV subscribers. Separately, it lost 15,000 DTT subscribers.

“Q3 showed a strong commercial momentum for IPTV. TV on iPad and laptop was introduced and the launch of multiroom IPTV was expanded further. Under the Telfort brand the IPTV product was launched as well, which supported an increase in net adds to 73,000 in Q3,” said chief executive Eelco Blok.
