Deutsche Telekom satellite TV offering passes 50,000

Deutsche Telekom’s new satellite TV service has signed up about 50,000 customers in its first six weeks, according to local press.

Deutsche Telekom marketing chief Christian Illek told the Reuters news service that the operator was pleased with the progress of the satellite version of the Entertain service. He said the figures were at the upper end of Telekom’s expectations. The operator now expects to exceed 100,000 customers by the end of the year.

Overall, Deutsche Telekom now has about 1.3 million TV customers, which should grow to 1.5 million by the end of the year, according to Illek. This compares with 2.76 million customers to Sky Deutschland at the end of July.
