National Geographic Channel has launched a Farsi-language channel across the Middle East.
The factual channel operator is launching National Geographic Farsi to target 15 million Farsi speakers across the region. The company has set up base in Abu Dhabi at the twofour54 media zone, where it also runs National Geographic Abu Dhabi, its Arabic-language channel, which is a joint venture between National Geographic Channels International and Abu Dhabi Media.
“National Geographic Channels launched a free-to-air Farsi language service, the first documentary or non-news service of its kind. It will have the potential to reach 15 million viewers across the Middle East,” a spokesman told local press.
