French communications regulator CSA has announced an auction for six new HD channels on the country’s DTT network.
The channels will be broadcast in the DVB-T1 MPEG 4 standard on multiplexes R7 and R8.
Bids must be submitted by January 3 2012 and the CSA will meet with shortlisted candidates between March 5-9. The successful channels will be announced in March with licences delivered by the end of May.
The regulator said new channels should be broadcasting to at least 25% of mainland France, including the cities of Paris, Bordeaux and Marseille, by autumn 2012.
