ITV wins Europa League from Channel 5

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has secured rights to Uefa Europa League soccer games, wresting the rights from its counterpart Channel 5.

It will get the top two games from the tournament for three years, starting 2012/2013 and pay TV broadcaster ESPN will take rights to the remaining games. Channel 5 had the rights from 2008 to this year.

Uefa said that the rights were awarded on a platform neutral basis, meaning the broadcasters can show games on TV, the internet and mobile devices.
