The boards of Italian broadcaster Mediaset’s transmission arm, Ei Towers, and transmission services provider DMT have approved the acquisition of the former by DMT in an all-share deal designed to create a unified broadcast and mobile tower infrastructure provider.
Ei Towers is owned by Elettronica Industriale, a unit that is in turn owned by Mediaset subsidiary RTI.
Elettronica Industriale/Mediaset will receive 34 new DMT shares for every 401 Ii towers share. The DMT board approved a capital increase from €1.130 million to €2.826 million through the issue of new shares reserved for Elettronica Industriale.
Completion of the merger is subject to clearance by the country’s competition regulator.
