Canal Plus is to launch a new subscription video-on-demand service, Canalplay Infinity, on SFR’s Neufbox service in November.
The operator will offer several thousand titles, including films and series. Canalplay Infinity will include search functionality and recommendation via Facebook as well as personalised recommendations as on the existing CanalSat service.
Canalplay Infinity will be available for €9.99 a month, offering unlimited access to content on the service. Content will be available via PCs, Macs, tablets and smartphones as well as via TV.
Following the launch on SFR’s network on November 8, the service will be made available via the Free and Bouygues Telecom IPTV services and via CanalSat, the Xbox 360, the Allociné portal and via Samsung’s Smart TV offering.
Bertrand Meheut, CEO of Canal Plus, said that the company expected the market to evolve towards more services being delivered via connected TVs. He said that Canal Plus wanted to offer as much content in the windows available as possible and to counter the launch of rival services from the likes of Netflix.
