US over-the-top video specialist Sezmi has shut down its consumer service. Users of the hybrid service (concentrated in the Los Angeles area), which delivers pay TV and on-demand services via the internet to complement digital over-the-air broadcasts, will continue to be able to access the Sezmi VOD catalogue until November 1.
Sezmi has over the past year moved to establish itself as a business-to-business platform provider, selling its technology to Mexico’s Grupo Iusacell and Malaysia’s YTL. The company recently signed a deal with French technology company Netgem to include the latter’s set-top box hardware and software as part of its offering.
