Greek telco OTE plans to go ahead with the launch of its DTH service, OTE TV, in early October, according to local reports.
The new service will provide a DTH alternative to MultiChoice Hellas’s Nova platform. OTE reportedly will offer a basic package of 48 channels for under €20. The service will broadcast from Eutelsat’s Eurobird satellite at 9° East. HD channels offered will include that of state broadcaster ERT and OTE’s own OTE Sport HD channel.
OTE TV will be broadcast using MPEG-4 compression. Encryption is being provided by NDS.
