TDC launches TV apps

Danish telco TDC has launched a range of TV apps. The first six apps will provide access to the user’s digital pictures (HomeDisk), weather, Danish radio services, music via TDC Play, information about today’s Danish general election and news in partnership with newspaper Jyllands-Posten. A service from another newspaper, Berlingske Tidende, will be added in about a month.

TDC Consumer senior vice-president René Brøchner said he believed the service would have a major impact and would replace teletext services, which are used by half of the Danish population on a daily basis. The initial six apps will be made available to all TDC TV customers, with plans to offer optional services via an app store in the future.
