AEPOC hails antipiracy success

Anti-piracy organisation AEPOC has welcomed the breaking up of an illegal card-sharing network in Portugal following action brought by AEPOC member Zon Multimédia in June.

Following investigations in Lisbon, Guarda and northern Portugal, local police dismantled the piracy network which provided unauthorised access to TV content.

According to information released by the police, the network was operated by two individuals, with over 650 customers. More than 10 card sharing servers were seized together with some 100 pirate decoders.

Meanwhile, a Belgian appeal court has confirmed the imposition of €1.85 million in damages and an 18 months prison sentence on an individual found guilty of selling unauthorised viewing cards providing access to Sky Deutschland’s services in Germany and Austria.
