Russian service provider VimpelCom has signed an agreement with the Republic of Sakha (also known as Yakutia) in Siberia to cooperate on the development of communications in the region.
In addition to developing its 3G mobile network, VimpelCom, which operates under the Beeline brand, will integrate its operations with local cable operator Helios TV, a subsidiary of NTC, in which VimpelCom acquired a 90% stake in June. Helios TV operates cable TV and internet services in the republic’s capital, Yakutsk.
