Sales of TV sets in Germany for the first half of this year numbered 4.4 million units, down from 4.7 million for the same period last year, according to the latest CEMIX consumer electronics market index.
LCD TV sales fell by a smaller amount – 1.3%. About 30% of sales for the first half were for internet-connected devices, and approximately 87% had an integrated HD tuner. Sales of 3D sets numbered 465,000. First-half sales were worth €2.8 billion, down 10%. Sales last year were boosted by the launch of new HD services and the football World Cup.
