Kurdish Roj TV on trial in Denmark

A court case began in Copenhagen yesterday to determine whether Kurdish channel Roj TV, which uses Denmark as its broadcasting base, should lose its licence. The station is accused of being a front for the Kurdish separatist PKK, categorized as a terrorist group by the EU.

The Turkish government has put pressure on Denmark to revoke Roj TV’s licence for a number of years. The prosecution is seeking to prove that the channel is closely involved with the PKK.
