Elisabeth Murdoch delays joining News board

Elisabeth Murdoch, daughter of News Corp chairman Rupert, will not be joining the News board this year.

Following News Corp’s acquisition of Elisabeth Murdoch’s production and distribution company Shine, she was expected to be voted on to the board of News at the company’s annual general meeting. However, she has now said that it would be ‘inappropriate’ to be nominated for a seat on the board at the upcoming AGM. The decision comes in the wake of the phone hacking scandal that has hit News Corp’s newspaper division.
