IPTV and satellite boost for Magyar Telekom

Deutsche Telekom-owned Magyar Telekom had 756,000 TV customers at the end of June, up 7% year-on-year. The company said it saw significant migration from its cable network to IPTV, while demand for satellite TV remained strong.

Cable TV customers numbered 330,548, down 17.1%, while satellite subscribers numbered 262,40, up 18.6%. IPTV customers numbered 163,824, up 88.2%. Blended TV ARPU was HUF3,035 (€11.15), up 4.9%.

Revenues from TV reached HUF15.5 million for the first half of 2011, up 14.4%, and amounted to 13.9% of its total fixed-line revenues. Revenues for retail voice and internet services both declined over the same period.
