Ziggo to launch localised Eurosport 2

Eurosport has signed a deal with Ziggo that will see the Dutch cable operator carry a new Dutch language version of Eurosport 2 and the launch of Eurosport 2 HD on the platform.

A local language version of Eurosport 2 will launch later this year and will air matches from, the German Bundesliga. The launch of Eurosport 2 HD will be the channel’s first carriage deal in the Benelux.

Jean-Thierry Augustin, managing director, distribution, rights acquisition and development, said: “We are delighted with our efforts to develop Eurosport in the Netherlands, especially Eurosport 2, which will showcase more football in the Dutch language in 2012. We are happy to agree this new long-term agreement and the expansion of the Eurosport portfolio offered to the subscribers of Ziggo, one of our most important distribution partners in Europe.”
