Recent television technologies, including digital and HD formats, time-shifted and catch-up viewing, has helped drive a global increase in television viewing, according to a new study.
According to Television – International Key Facts 2011, published by IP Network, a wholly owned international advertising subsidiary of RTL Group, European viewers are watching on average six more minutes of television per year. The UK has increased the amount of viewing more than any other market, with an extra 17 minutes, followed by Bulgaria, where viewing is up by 20 minutes, and Hungary, which is up 19 minutes.
Mark Pimbley, UK director, IP Network said: “This report illustrates that the global television market is growing and technological innovation, healthy audience levels and programming will continue to drive this expansion in 2011. The report reflects IP Network’s expertise in helping clients to take advantage of the television medium to promote their brand to viewers across Europe.”
