Eurosport wins IAAF rights

Eurosport has signed a deal with the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) for broadcast rights to the IAAF World Athletics series.

The deal, which covers 2011 to 2013, begins with live coverage of the 2011 IAAF World Championships, in Daegu, Korea on August 27 to Sep 4 and also covers the following edition in 2013 in Russia. Eurosport said it will broadcast at least 100 hours of dedicated coverage.

In addition to the Outdoor World Championships, the deal also includes coverage of the 2012 IAAF World Indoor Championships in Istanbul next March, the World Marathon and Half-Marathon Championships, the Youth and Junior World Championships and Cross country World Championships.

The agreement also allows for live streaming via the internet and mobile devices.
