Canal Plus and Orange finalize movie channel deal

French pay TV operators Canal Plus and Orange have finalized a partnership deal under the terms of which they will jointly run the Orange Cinema Series movie channels.

The new structure will see a two-thirds stake in the five-channel bouquet held by France Telecom-owned Orange and the remaining third by Canal Plus. The agreement will ensure wider distribution of the channels, the partners said. It currently reaches 400,000 subscribers.
Canal Plus CEO, Bertrand Meheut said: “This is a natural connection that allows us to combine our respective expertise in technology and publishing content to offer as many viewers as possible a quality, innovative service.”
