Orange has launched TVcheck, a new social TV application that will initially be available to iPhone users.
The app automatically recognizes programmes that users are watching and provides multiscreen capabilities for discussing the shows with social networking contacts. It allows users to express and share their thoughts via status updates, comments and recommendations.
Users will be able to log in via their Facebook user name and password and to add friends from their Facebook account. They will also have their own profiles, with an activity log and access to friends and messages. They will be able to use an I like button on each programmeÂs page and check the comments made by other members.
TVcheck will recognize shows broadcast on the 19 French digital-terrestrial TV channels, and customers have the opportunity to win rewards for activity in the form of points that go towards programming-related badges.Â
