German cable operator Kabel Deutschland (KDG) has added high-definition content from local food channel Bongusto HD to its video-on-demand offering, Select Video.
Bongusto is already carried on KDGs Kabel Digital Home package. The channel airs a range of shows focused on German cuisine and that of neighbouring countries including Meine Familie & ich  Gastspiel and Nordlichter  Kulinarisch Skandinavisch.
KDG currently offers about 3,200 hours of shows and movies on Select Video, with about 60% of movie titles available in HD and about 40% available in their original version. The service is currently restricted to Berlin, Munich and Hamburg, but the operator plans to expand to other cities later this year. Viewers need an HD DVR set-top to access the service.Â
