Antena Group suing RCS&RDS

Romanian broadcaster Antena Group is suing pay TV operator RCS&RDS for allegedly flouting the country’s must carry provisions.

The company, which operates a raft of channels including general entertainment station Antena 1, claims that the cable and satellte operator charged subscribers for access to the channel.

“RCS&RDS imposed fees on the population in order to broadcast this channel, but also other must-carry channels,” it noted in a statement.
The broadcaster is asking for damages of €60 million to settle the claim. “The size of the damage is established temporarily, while the exact sum will be calculated after a financial audit, which will take into consideration the position that Antena 1 has on the market [and] the turnover of RCS&RDS,” it said.
