Sony will not support YouView

Sony will not support troubled UK connected TV project YouView, according to Sony’s managing director for UK and Ireland, Gildas Pelliet. Pelliet told a conference in London that the company does not plan to support the service, backed by the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Five, Arqiva, BT and TalkTalk.

Sony’s decision follows the withdrawal of Technicolor from YouView’s list of technology partners.

The launch of YouView, which was originally scheduled for this summer, has been pushed back to 2012.
