France-based technology provider Netgem has launched a new multi-screen software solution, The Cloud, designed to enable consumer to access content from any connected device in the home. Monaco Telecom has been named as the first customer for the service.
According to Netgem, The Cloud is a software suite bringing the cloud into the home by transforming the set-top box into a multimedia server and connected devices into clients, with the end user retaining control over his or her content through local storage and management.
The first application introduced by Netgem will be to enable linear TV channels and personal content to be viewed on the iPad.
Monaco Telecom will introduce The Cloud as a software update to its boxes.Â
