Belgacom launches multi-screen TV service

Belgacom has launched a new ‘TV everywhere’ service, allowing its customers to watch its pay TV services on multiple devices.

Belgacom TV viewers will now be able to view services on their TV set, tablet device or smartphone via Wi-Fi or 3G within Belgium. The service currently extends to Android and Apple devices. This will be followed up within the next few weeks with the ability to watch TV on a desktop or laptop.

The TV everywhere service will include 16 channels initially – RTL TVI, Club RTL, Plug, EEN, Canvas/Ketnet, Trace, Canal J, MCM, Tiji, AB3, AB4, Nick Jr (in French and Dutch), Acht and Belgacom Zoom (in French and Dutch).

For the 2011-12 season, Belgacom’s coverage of some of the football matches of the Juliper League, two matches each match-play day of the Portuguese Primeira Liga and other top European football fixtures will also be made available.

The service will also include a video-on-demand offering, initially comprising 34 movies (21 in French and 13 in Dutch), with the catalogue to be expanded later. Customers will also be able to access the Belgacom TV guide and remotely programme recordings on their DVRs.
The service will initially be available free of charge ahead of a commercial launch in October. Belgacom’s mobile internet customers will also be able to watch one hour of free TV a month via 3G.
