iPhone users more likely to watch mobile video

iPhone users are far more likely to watch video on their phones than other smartphone users, according to Alison Casey, head of global content at Futuresource Consulting.

Based on a study carried out in the US, UK, France and Germany, 64% of iPhone users said they watch video on their phone compared to just 32% of other smartphone users. User-generated content accounts for the majority of video watched online via mobile devices, according to the study.

Casey said Facebook was a “keystone” of mobile  internet usage, being the most viewed site in all territories, followed by Google and YouTube, except in the UK where the BBC was the third most popular site. It is accessed by 44% of smartphone owners using mobile internet, the study found.
