Belgacom snaps up Spanish and Portuguese leagues

Belgian telco and pay TV operator Belgacom has won multiplatform rights to Spain and Portugal’s top football leagues.

From August 13, Belgacom will broadcast live two matches each week from Portugal’s Primeira Liga on TV as well as to smartphones, tablets and computers. Coverage of Spain’s Liga will begin from the start of the 2012-13 season.

Belgacom will also broadcast all the goals from Liga “near-live” on smartphones and tablets.
The deal will come as a relief to Belgacom, which recently lost its exclusive broadcast deal for Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League.
