Report says 3D TVs in 40% of European homes by 2015

UK-based consultancy Futuresource is forecasting fast uptake of 3D TV in Western Europe, with 40% of homes having access to a 3D service by 2015.

The bullish prediction counters several more cautious forecasts that suggest consumers will not take to 3D TV in large numbers. Futuresources’ forecast equates to 65 million 3D sets in the region. However, it says many of the 3D TVs will be bought by consumers not specifically looking for 3D functionality as manufacturers incorporate 3D technology in a wider range of new sets.
