ComHem acquires Canal Digital’s cable network

Swedish cable operator Com Hem has acquired local cable and IPTV operator Canal Digital Cable TV in a deal worth SEK85 million (€9.3 million).

The operator, a subsidiary of Canal Digital Sweden AB, provides services to 220,000 subscribers. Com Hem said it would integrate the cable network into its own and resell the IPTV business, which has 22,000 customers, to telco AllTele.

Canal Digital Sweden’s CEO Mats Almgren said it was selling the cable part of its business so it could focus on its core DTH business. The deal is subject to competition authority.

Com Hem’s network is connected to approximately 1.8 million households and has over 623,000 digital TV subscribers.
