Eltrona selects Volicon Observer for remote monitoring

Video monitoring specialist Volicon has announced that Luxembourg cable TV operator Eltrona Interdiffusion is using its Volicon Observer Remote Program Monitor (RPM) to monitor over 215 digital TV channels.

The RPM provides automatic and continuous evaluation of post-set-top box content, testing signal integrity, issuing alerts when errors are detected, and recording suspect content when channels do not conform to pre-specified limits.

The Volicon Observer RPM allows us to observe our broadcast products the same way they’re seen by customers,” said Ralf Werle, headend manager at Eltrona. “Rather than perform time-consuming manual zapping through all of our services several times each day, we now allow the Observer RPM to evaluate the STB output and identify audio and video issues. In cutting down the time required for monitoring tasks, the Volicon system also has cut the cost of monitoring our DTV services.”
