Telecom Italia Media using Thomson equipment for 3D DTT

Telecom Italia Media Broadcast (TIMB) is using Thomson Video Networks’ ViBE EM3000 video encoder platform to deliver Italy’s first HD digital-terrestrial service with live 3D content, aired by TIMB’s La7 channel.

The broadcaster initially aired 3D coverage of rugby in November last year, using the Thomson Video Networks compression platform. TIMB is also using Thomson’s NetProcessor transport stream processor and XMS network management systems.
