Belgacom offers football for free

After losing its exclusive broadcast rights to Belgium’s top football league, Belagacom will offer all its live matches free of charge.

Belgium’s Professional Football League announced last week that the broadcast rights would be shared between Belgacom, Telenet and VOO, ending Belgacom’s exclusivity. The telco will broadcast 150 matches on Saturday evenings and an additional 32 play-off matches, for which Belgacom said it had paid €1 million.

All of its IPTV subscribers will be able to watch the matches for free when previously they had to subscribe to an additional package.
