UPC Poland claims success for remote recording

Cable operator UPC Poland has claimed success for its recently introduced remote recording feature.

The operator said that subscribers had used the service, introduced in mid-May, to make some 31,000 recordings and used the service on average three times a week. The remote record service allows iPhone and iPad users to record programmes remotely on their DVRs using an app available from the Apple store.

According to UPC, some 81% of viewers using the service do so when some unexpected event prevents them from watching a favourite programme, while 41% use it while on holiday and 19% use it to book recordings while at work.
