STM demonstrates DVB-RCS2

IP satellite network systems specialist STM Group’s Norwegian subsidiary STM Norway has demonstrated the second generation of the DVB-RCS return channel standard, DVB-RCS2.

STM demonstrated the new standard on is SatLink platform to representatives of the European Space Agency and Norwegian Space Centre.

RCS2 provides for higher order modulation and coding along with other elements contributing to higher throughput and bandwidth efficiency. Total efficiency gains with RCS2 can be as large as 300% on TDMA carriers compared to legacy VSAT networks, according to STM.
