San Marino launches DTH channel

San Marino TV, the DTT broadcaster for San Marino and Italy, is launching a new general entertainment satellite channel called SMtv today.

The pan-European channel will broadcast using capacity from Eutelsat’s Hot Bird video neighbourhood and the Eurbird 9A satellite. It will be available free-to-air and will also be carried by Sky Italia and TivuSat.

The channel will be uplinked from the Cagliari (Sardinia) teleport owned and operated by Eutelsat’s affiliate, Skylogic.

“We are excited to broaden our brand and to take this  important step towards international distribution with  Eutelsat,” said Carmen Lasorella, CEO of San Marino RTV. “Through satellite broadcasting, the small state of San Marino is now able to deliver a new perspective on news for viewers in Italy and across Europe.”
