Numericable wants LLU prices to rise

French cable operator Numericable is petitioning telecom regulator ARCEP to allow local-loop unbundling charges to rise in order to encourage consumers to take up high-speed fibre-based broadband, according to local press.

Numericable, which was responding to a consultation launched by ARCEP in March, sees the low price of ADSL access as an obstacle to the development of high-speed networks. The group has about 400,000 high-speed customers, representing penetration of about 10% of its high-speed fibre-to-the-building network.
