BBC to migrate satellite HD services to DVB-S2 on Monday

The BBC has revealed that it plans to migrate its HD services on satellite to DVB-S2 modulation on Monday June 6.

While Sky Digital subscribers will continue to receive the services without interruption, the BBC has warned that Freesat customers may need to put their HD box of TV into standby for 30 seconds to continue to watch the two channels – BBC HD and BBC 1 HD – while users of other satellite receivers may need to retune their devices manually.

The move to DVB-S2 should give the BBC more capacity within its existing spectrum.
