Two Viacom channels launch on HD Plus

The high-definition versions of Viacom’s kids channel Nickelodeon and comedy offering Comedy Central have launched on SES Astra’s German pay TV service HD Plus.

The addition of the two takes the number of free HD channels on the HD Plus service to 10. The service is available for no charge for a year and an annual €50 technical fee is levied thereafter.

Separately, pay TV operator Sky Deutschland has added the HD Plus channels to its line-up, giving its customers access to RTL-HD, Sat.1 HD, ProSieben-HD, Vox-HD, Kabel-HD, RTL2- HD, Sport1-HD and Sixx-HD for a year at no extra charge. Customers will then have to opt in to pay SES Astra’s technical fee.
