Portugal Telecom said its pay TV service Meo has now reached critical mass and was the key factor in turning around its wireline business.
PTÂs IPTV service added 46,000 subscribers during the first three months of the year, ending March with 876,000 customers and a 31% market share. According to PT, 85.9% of its fixed-line customers take a TV service.
EBITDA from the telcoÂs wireline business remained flat in the first quarter, the best performance for 18 quarters. PT hailed Meo as the reason behind the turnaround. Â
