Sales of TVs in Germany reached 1.6 billion in the first quarter, according to the CEMIX consumer electronics market index.
While revenues were stable year-on-year, units sold grew by 4.6% to 2.5 million, with LCD TV sales growing by 6.4% and Plasma screen sales falling by 7.4%. Some 29% of TVs sold in the quarter had internet connectivity, while 86% had an integrated HD tuner. 3D-capable sets sold in the first quarter numbered about 180,000.
The TV market underperformed the overall market for consumer electronics products in the quarter, which grew by some 6.6%.
