Central Telegraph moves forward with multimedia box plan

Russian telecom service provider Central Telegraph has signed an agreement with Slovenia-based technology company Isktratel to develop a multimedia box for its planned triple-play service in the Moscow region, according to local reports. Central Telegraph plans to provide a range of services under the QWERTY brand.

The company plans to develop a set-top-like basic version of the device as well as a higher-range media centre. Central Telegraph has partnered with local technology company Cloud Technologies to develop the device, which will enable digital TV, video-on-demand and access to web portal services. Cloud Technologies hopes to sell about 300,000 of the devices by the end of next year, according to reports.
